How do I enrol in a course?

Once your account has been registered, you can enrol in courses via the course catalogue. Depending on your account type, you will be able to enrol in courses tailored to your account's accessibility.

About our courses

Who are these courses for?

Our courses are developed to meet the needs of the WHO PIDM (Programme for International Drug Monitoring) members and other organisations using UMC’s products. While other groups within the public sector are welcome to register, WHO PIDM learners will be prioritised for access to our courses. UMC may, in its sole discretion, reject access to other user segments.

What type of courses do you offer?

We offer a range of courses designed to deepen your understanding of pharmacovigilance systems and processes and develop your skills in case management, adverse event reporting, signal detection and assessment.

What languages are courses available in?

UMC Learning is pleased to offer courses in English, French, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish, with aims to release more courses in these and other languages in the future.

Why can't I enrol in all courses available in the course catalogue?

UMC offers tailored learning pathways to meet the needs of members of the WHO PIDM (Programme for International Drug Monitoring) and other organisations using UMC products. As such, some courses require valid product licenses or affiliation with the WHO PIDM to enrol. All learners will be able to access our base offering of pharmacovigilance-related courses for free.

If you work in the pharmaceutical industry and are interested in learning more about WHODrug products, please visit: For industry (who-umc.org)

Does the new course catalogue contain the same courses as your previous learning platform?

Some courses in our catalogue are currently being updated by our learning specialists. UMC Learning has a selection of courses available, and additional courses will become available as redevelopment is completed. We have several exciting new courses in progress – stay tuned!

I’ve completed all self-paced courses in the course catalogue. What comes next?

Staff from national or regional pharmacovigilance centres with a VigiLyze account and who meet the entry requirements after completing a set number of self-paced courses are invited to sign up for our instructor-led course. Learn more about our instructor-led courses

Awards

Can I earn an award for completing courses?

Yes. Course awards are based on the type of course and user enrolled.

What type of awards are there?

We offer four types of awards:
  • Statement of completion* – awarded to all learners.
  • Confirmation of completion* – awarded to all learners.
  • Certificate of completion* – awarded to learners who successfully passed the training and completed a certain number of courses at advanced levels.
  • Certification* – awarded to learners who successfully complete and pass the WHODrug Certification Programme and related WHODrug Insignia exam.

*UMC is not an academic institution, and this document does not serve as proof of professional qualification.

What is WHODrug Insignia?

WHODrug Insignia is a new certification service, included with every active WHODrug subscription, that recognises the expertise users develop in drug coding with WHODrug Global. After passing an exam focused on the practical use of the terminology, users receive a unique digital certificate – verifiable online, shareable on LinkedIn and other platforms, and valid for five years, with renewal included at no additional cost.
